- By BUSINESS REPORTER

ZAMBIA is expecting to have increased investments from Europe this year after receiving delegations from that region, Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has said. ZDA acting director general Matongo Matamwandi said there has been an influx of in- vestments from the European region and that the results of the visits will be visible by the third or fourth quarter of this year Mr. Matamwandi was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation in Lusaka. He said the investment profile for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) will grow as the year progresses since most of the European countries had promised to do so within this year. “This year we will have increased investments especially from Europe after receiving more delegations from that region. “In the first quarter of 2018 we have received delegations from India, Belgium, Switzerland and Finland and all these have been sent through our missions in these respective countries. After meetings and discussions on investment opportunities we expect them to come in with the act,” he said. Mr. Matamwandi said almost all the mission in Europe have come into Zambia. “We should be hitting a record greater than the projection by the end of the year and the Zambian investment profile will definitely improve. “This year will be a build up from the 70 percent growth recorded between 2016 and 2017 previous years with more bias to the energy sector which has proven to be more attractive,” he said.
