HPCZ welcomes new health scheme
SIGNING of the National Health Insurance Bill into law will enable people of Zambia have equitable access to quality healthcare, the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) has said.
HPCZ Public Relations Officer, Terry Musonda, who welcomed the signing of the bill into law, said the council firmly believed that the National health Insurance scheme would meet the health needs and aspirations of the Zambian people.
He said this in a statement released to the Daily Nation in Ndola yesterday.
On Friday, President Edgar Lungu signed the Act that established the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Mr Musonda noted that the scheme would enable the people of Zambia to have equitable access to quality healthcare irrespective of their status in the Zambian society.
He stated that according to the council’s perspective, the National Health Insurance Act No. 2 of 2018 completed the
circuit in implementing the Health professions Act No. 24 of 2009 of the laws of Zambia.
“The new Law resonates well with the transformative agenda in regulating the health sector, which the HPCZ has embarked on through the 2018 -2021 strategic plan.
“The National Health Insurance Act No. 2 of 2018 will also facilitate the attainment of the provision of universal health coverage for all Zambians,” he explained.
