Youth group drafts constitution
MKUSHI District Youth Coordinating Committee (MKYDDC) has started working on a draft constitution to guide and protect the interests of youth clubs in the area.
Mkushi District youth Coordinating Committee Coordinator (MKDYCC) Bright Mumba who confirmed the development to the Daily Nation in interview, said youths in the area had started formulating a constitution that will promote and protect their interests as well as desires for development.
Mr Mumba further said the district coordinating committee had no constitution to back their affairs and aspirations and that that was why they had come up with one as advised by the provincial coordinating committee.
Mr Mumba said, the Mkushi District youth Coordinating Committee had been operating without a constitution but referred to the terms of reference based on the act of Parliament on which it was founded.
“As youths of Mkushi, we have started drafting the constitution following advice we got from the provincial youth Coordinator Abigail Malukutila. Also, by reflecting on challenges we faced as MKDYCC in running the affairs of youths in the district. We have no proper defence and protection without the constitution hence drafting one." Mr Mumba said.
Mr Mumba added that operating and running youth affairs without a supporting document like the constitution had been a challenge for the committee.
The youth leader said coming up with the formidable constitution would give direction and guidance in running youths affairs as well as put the house in order.
