Tutwa Ngulube arrested

- By NATION REPORTER

I am not shocked by this arrest, these people have been looking for me like a criminal every time I come to Kabwe for the weekend,”

KABWE Central Member of Parliament Tutwa Ngulube has been arrested for criminal trespass over an alleged illegal bus station operating from his business premises.

Mr Ngulube was intercepted and arrested at Prospect Police Station as he drove from Lusaka to Kabwe.

The Kabwe Central MP was charged with criminal trespass and minutes later was taken to Kabwe Central police station in an unregistered police vehicle.

Speaking to the media shortly before being locked up, Mr Ngulube said his arrest had not come as a shock because Kabwe police had for days been looking for him like a common criminal.

"I am not shocked by this arrest, these people have been looking for me like a criminal every time I come to Kabwe for the weekend," said Mr Ngulube.

Ngulube who has in the recent past been embroiled in a row with the Kabwe Municipal, had council accused the local authority of abuse of authority.

The local authority has in the meantime closed Sonnet Melodius Building Complex which houses Sonnet Hyper market, a transit bus station for long distance vehicles operated by Mr Ngulube, insisting that it was operating illegally.

Kabwe Town Clerk, Ronald Daka said in a notice of closure yesterday that Sonnets had been operating as an illegal bus station.

“The reason for closure of Sonnets bus station is that it has been operating as an illegal bus station contrary to section 6(1) a of the Markets and Bus Station Act no. 7 of 2007,” said Mr Daka.
