POLICE CHASE COPPERBELT ‘BRAZEN’ RAPIST
A MAN who was videotaped raping a woman is now on police wanted list, after the video went viral.
The rape recording which has been circulating on social media shows the faces of both the man and woman.
In similar circumstances, police are also looking for suspects who attacked a fellow criminal who they badly beat and a video was shot of the incident.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo who confirmed both incidents appealed to members of the public to help bring the culprits to book. “We are appealing to members of public to help in identifying the man who raped a Kitwe woman, “We are also appealing to members of the general public to come out and help in identifying the criminals who badly beat up their fellow criminal and shot the video as they committed the crime,” she said.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man has been arrested for conspiring to shoot down three people in Mapatizya in unclear circumstances. Southern Province Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso said the three victims were supposed to be killed on Monday night by a hired assassin but quick police intervention saved the situation.
Police recovered a Greener shotgun with 3 live ammunitions from the gunman at about 23:00hrs on his way to carry out his assignment.
The suspect has been identified as Malumani Kavwema of Handondo village in Chief Mapanza’s area of Choma district.
“The persons that were lined up for elimination are Sydney Mwango alias Gonde, Dakanya Halyaanga and another one only known as Alick, all of Choma district in Chief Mapanza’s area,” he said.
He said the plans to shoot the three people were hatched in April after a prophet only known as Mwenyu of no fixed abode revealed to the suspect that the three were responsible for his illness.
