Reject gay, tribal politicians

-

By NATION REPORTER

GAYISM and tribalism are a threat to the country’s Christian and ethical values on which the country exists and should be rejected by all Zambians, Movement for National Transformation (MNT) leader Daniel Shimunza yesterday.

Mr Shimunza told the Daily Nation that Zambians needed to reject immoral and destructive practices that some political leaders wanted to introduce in the country.

He said destructive ideologies such as tribalism sought to promote divisions in the country based on tribes, which should be rejected because all Zambians must be free to associate with each other regardless of their tribe or region they hailed from.

“As MNT, we are opposed to ideological forces that threaten the constitutional, spiritual, moral, and ethical values of our national existence, such as gayism and tribalism,” Mr Shimunza said.

He said Zambians must be careful not to allow political leaders who believed in gayism or tribalism to destroy the country.

He warned Zambians to be aware of political parties wanting to promote practices deigned to destroy the country’s values.

He said gayism was not only an affront to christian values but that it was an offence in Zambia. "In Romans 1:20-32, homosexuality is utterly condemned. Therefore, to tolerate it is against God, “he added.

"We must not allow certain people who promote such ideals even if they have a lot of money," he said.

He also claimed that socialism had been tested in Zambia before and must not be allowed again charging that there were no socialist states thriving today.

Mr Shimunza also said propaganda, insults and character assassinations by politicians were self- destructive and must not be tolerated.

He claimed that MNT sought to bring a new culture of politics of economic transformation, through transformative leadership, at all levels of Zambian society.
