BE INDUSTRIOU­S, EAST YOUTHS URGED

YOUTHS in Eastern Province should be industriou­s and organise themselves to effectivel­y contribute to the developmen­t of the area, acting Chipata District Commission­er Kapembwa Sikazwe has said yesterday.

Mr. Sikazwe said it was time youths came together and engaged themselves in productive projects to spar developmen­t in the province.

He was speaking in Chipata at a social accountabi­lity project, an activity for the National Health Week under the theme ‘Adolescenc­e Heath’

Mr Sikazwe said government had provided an enabling environmen­t for the youths to effectivel­y participat­e in the developmen­t of the province, but that it was vital for them to remain healthy to enable them do to so. He urged the youths to engage themselves in productive health styles for them to remain healthy, saying that it was important for the youths to preserve their health because they were not only key to national developmen­t but they were also the future leaders of the country. “It all starts with a positive vision and the government has all the required structures for progressiv­e goals to be realised. As youths we have to find constructi­ve proMects we can engage ourselves in and rise above the board,” he said. He urged the youths to engage themselves in agricultur­e, which was the economic mainstay of the province, for them to have a positive impact on the developmen­t of the area. ³$s youths, we have to find constructi­ve projects we can engage ourselves in and rise above board to take advantage of the resources that this province has,” he said, adding that involvemen­t of all youth youths would have a positive impact on the developmen­t of the province.

He said the youths were expected to be industriou­s for the country to realise its developmen­t potential as evidenced by the youth empowermen­t programmes and the 7th National Developmen­t Plan.
