HH lying, says ZCID …there was no vote whatsoever
The Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue ZCID has described as propaganda, claims by United Party for National Development UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema that delegates at the just ended stakeholders summit voted for the Commonwealth to lead the dialogue process.
ZCID Spokesperson Jackson Silavwe said yesterday that the claims by the opposition after boycotting the summit are nothing but propaganda as there was no voting session whatso- ever, on who should lead the dialogue process.
“There was no such vote as to who should lead the national dialogue process and we must therefore, refrain from such propaganda activities if we are to be politicians worth the salt to lead our people. One of the resolutions of the summit was that ZCID should continue facilitating,” Mr. Silavwe said.
Mr. Silavwe said this is only an indication that despite UPND claiming ZCID has no capacity to facilitate the dialogue process, they are still interested in being part of it. He said ZCID will however, continue making efforts to engage the UPND in the interest of the people regardless of the names they continue calling the centre which has been accused of being a Patriotic Front PF surrogate. Yesterday UPND President Hakainde Hichilema accused ZCID of failing to publish the resolutions from their summit because delegates voted in favor of the Commonwealth to lead the dialogue process. And Mr Hichilema has described last week’s National Democracy Summit (NDS) organized by the Zambia Centre for Inter-party Dialogue (ZCID) as confusion; but the Network of Young People against Violence (NYPV) has called on Zambians to ignore the UPND and move on with dialogue. In an interview yesterday, NYPV president Moses Kalonde said the main problem with the UPND is that Mr. Hichilema does not tolerate internal divergent views. Mr. Kalonde said Mr. Hichilema and the UPND were playing double standards on the proposed dialogue to suit their own selfish interests. He said the dialogue concerned all political parties and other stakeholders in national governance and development not only the UPND.
