We are intact – Kitwe UPND

- By NATION REPORTER

THE UPND in Kitwe has described former UPND Deputy Secretary General Captain Walusiku Lyambela as a grandmother who has nothing of substance to offer in her political life.

UPND district Information and Publicity Secretary Divo Katete said Captain Lyambela's decision to resign from the UPND and join the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) was the latest abomination to Zambian politics. The decision to leave UPND, he said, was deficient of a good sense of judgement and love for the majority of Zambians.

At a press briefing which was held in Lusaka on Sunday, Captain Lyambela appealed to all those supporting UPND to reconsider their stand.

She resigned from the opposition party recently.

But in response, Mr Katete appealed to members in the UPND to ignore Captain Lyambela.

"While it is her constitutional right to join a party of her likes, it is not her right to vilify our President Hakainde Hichilema in order to get short-lived recognition from her pay masters. Looking at her age, it is that of a grandmother and considering the respect our President accorded her, we expected her to leave in peace.

Mr Katete said regionalism was an old trump card being perpetrated by “prophets of doom” which could no longer stand in the way of the UPND in its quest to liberate Zambians.

"We wish to bid farewell to our grandmother, and in doing so, remind her that her departure from UPND will not in any way stop the UPND in partnership with the people of Zambia.

"There is nothing captain Lyambela or any one for that matter can do to stop this resolve. The sooner Captain Lyambela and his new friends accept this naked truth, the better for all of us," he said.
