COMPLY WITH NATIONAL DAY OF CLEANING, TRADERS URGED
NATIONAL Traders and Marketeers Association of Zambia (NATMAZ) has appealed to traders across the country to comply with government`s initiative to have a `national day of cleaning` on every last Saturday of the month.
Last week, Local Government Minister Vincent Mwale announced that all forms of business and trading will be stopped every last Saturday of the month to allow for the cleaning, starting from 08.00 to 11.00 during which time all trading places would be closed.
NATMAZ President Goodson Mofya said in an interview yesterday that the move was a welcome one, as it was aimed at maintaining cleanliness and high levels of hygiene in the country.
Mr Mofya appealed to all traders to comply with the directive.
“Just because the cholera pandemic is no more does not mean we should underplay cleanliness in our cities. High levels of hygiene are vital in the promotion of health and economic advancement of our nation. A clean nation is a responsible one after all,” he said.
He said his organization would engage other market leaders in order for them to sensitize traders on the cleaning programme so that there were no challenges in implementation.
The NATMAZ President noted that the cleaning programme would not have a negative impact on traders.
