By BUSINESS REPORTER OVER 500 delegates are expected to take part in the Central province investment forum and expo slated for October 16 to 20th 2018 whose aim is to create a conducive environment for a diversified economy, expo coordinator Sandra Maleya has said.
Ms. Maleya explained that of the 500 delegates, half will be international potential investors while the others will be local delegates.
Speaking in a telephone interview with the Daily Nation, she said the expo will run under the theme “Accelerating Investment for Inclusive and Sustainable Development” with the aim of linking Central Province to the global world and stimulating the promotion of growth and investment through sustainable development.
And according to the expo presentation given by the provincial minister during the launch and made available to Daily Nation, Mr. Sydney Mushanga said there is need to attract financial partners and mobili]e financial resources for proMects in the identified sectors to achieve sustainable development and inclusive socio-economic growth for the province.
“The forth coming expo is meant to identify the missing links and cultivate solutions for mobili]ing financing for infrastructure and socio-economic development in the Province through, Public Private Partnerships (PPP),” he said.
Mr. Mushanga noted that agriculture has become the main economic activity in the province following the closure of mining and manufacturing companies that were operating in the province in the 1990s.
He said historically, smallscale agriculture consisting of crop, liYestock and fisheries production have dominated the agriculture sector.
