- By NATION REPORTER

THE Solwezi- Chingola road which will cost K816, 000,000 is a testimony that President Edgar Lungu is committed to taking development to all parts of the country, North-western province permanent secretary Ephraim Mateyo has said. Speaking when he inspected the Lunga Bridge which is currently under construction on the same road, Mr Mateyo said the construction of the road was expected to be completed by July this year. “The kind of works being done on the road are of high quality and as government we are very impressed with the works done so far,’’ Mr Mateyo said. He said President Lungu wanted to spread development to all part of the country irrespective of the peo- ple’s political affiliation. He said government attached great importance to the SolweziChingola road because of its economic value due to increased mining activities in the region. The road has been divided into three lots with China Geo Coroperation working on Lot one covering a stretch of about 60 kilometres and lot three covering a stretch of about 68 kilometers while Buildcon, a local contractor is undertaking works on lot two covering a stretch of about 40 kilometres respectively. Earlier, North-western province Road Development Agency (RDA) regional engineer Manda Ndabane said the Chinese contractor had completed the works on lot one and the road was open to the public. He said about 30 kilometres of lot two has been done and works on the remaining 10 kilometres are currently underway while 68 kilometres of lot three is complete. And china Geo cooperation project manager Joe ZHeozheng said his firm was committed to deliver the project within the specified time frame.
