3 Tokota Boys deny gang -raping woman

THREE members of the Tokota Boys yesterday appeared before a Kitwe magistrate’s court yesterday for gang-raping a woman.

Richard Siame, 20 of Chamboli, Teddy Chilufya, 20 of Wusakile and Chris Kalenga aged 21 of Wusakile township are alleged to have gang-raped a woman on February 2, this year.

They appeared before Chief Resident Magistrate Yvonne Nalomba for plea and denied the charge.

The three are alleged to have forced themselves on the woman, one after another.

Meanwhile, 19 other Tokota boys appeared before Ms Nalomba for mention on three criminal counts.

In this matter, the 19 appeared for abducting and kidnapping a 16-year-old boy, causing grievous bodily harm on him and forcing consumptio­n of faeces.

However, the matter was adjourned because the State has not yet received instructio­ns from the Director of Public Prosecutio­n and the gang were already remanded in custody.

The gang members are Libikani Phiri 20, David Kateta 31, Lucky Mwaba 20, Wisdom Chilekwa 23, Bill Mulenga 20, Moses Chilambe 20, Boniface Lubansa 20, Wensy Chilembo 23, Richard Siame 20, and Lazarus Zulu 19 years old.

The rest are Kingsley Ngoma 24, Abraham Sikazwe 26, Teddy Chilufya 20, Bernard Chirwa 19, Sydney Kasase 27, Doctor Simwemba 20, Mills Mumba 28, Trust Sinkala 20 and a 15-year-old Juvenile offender.

The case was adjourned to June 11, this year for the commenceme­nt of trial.

Meanwhile, three members of the same gang appeared before Principle Magistrate Chongo Musonda for unlawful wounding.

Boniface Lubansa 20, Kingsley Ng’oma 24 and Wency Chilembo 23 are charged with unlawful wounding.

It is alleged that on February 27 this year, the three did unlawfully wounded Israel Chileshe.

The three boys have denied the charge and the matter has been adjourned to June, 4 this year for commenceme­nt of trial. They are remanded in custody.
