Kasama civic centre completion to cost K284,000,000
KASAMA Municipal KMC) Council has awarded a contract worth K284, 065.74 to Crambus General Dealers to complete the building of the new civic centre.
And Kasama town clerk Zakeyo Mbao urged the contractor to complete the works at the new civic centre within the 66 days as stipulated in the contract.
The new civic centre project includes the installation of ceiling, painting and decorations at the new civic centre.
Mr Mbao said government wanted local contractors to change their work culture once they were awarded contracts.
“We do not want to be disappointed by late works, we are hopeful that works will be done within the stipulated time,” he said.
Mr Mbao said the local authority would always want to empower local contractors but that they should also prove that they could do the work.
He said the funds were already available and there should be no excuse for the contractor failing to work within the time frame.
“The other contractors that are already on site will have their work easy if Crambus General dealers could swiftly get down to work,’’ he said.
Mr Mbao advised the contractor to ensure quality work was done if the local authority was to pay the company, adding that the contractor should also comply with Safety standards by providing protective equipment and also pay their workers on time.
And the contractors indicated that they would start works in two days’ time since resources were available.
