And traditional leaders in North Western province have praised President Lungu for taking development to the region and for his good leadership.
Speaking when he visited Ikelengi district where he handed over a house constructed for a land mine victim yesterday, President Lungu said his government was committed to improving the lives of land mine victims.
He said he was happy to fulfil his 2015 campaign promise to a 1977 land mine victim, Enock Makabi that government would build him a house.
He, however, said he was mindful that there are many other land mine victims facing challenges saying government would do all it could to help them.
And Mr Makabi thanked the President for honoring his promise saying he was thankful for the gesture.
Meanwhile, traditional leaders who met President Lungu in Ikelenge praised the Head of state for his exemplary leadership and gifted him with a bull (cow).
The Chiefs who met the President at Kalene Mission Hospital included Senior Chief Kanongesha, Chieftainess Ikelenge, Chief Nyakaseya, Chief Mwinilunga, and Chief Nyamwali among others. Speaking on behalf of other Chiefs, Senior Chief Kanongesha of the Lunda people of Mwinilunga district said the traditional leaders were happy with President Lungu's leadership and assured him of their support.
Senior Chief Kanongesha said the chiefs in the region were not just happy with the development projects that President Lungu had undertaken in the province but also for his crusade of preaching peace.
The traditional leader, however, appealed to President Lungu to expedite the construction of roads in the province.
The chief said there were shortages of medical staff at Kalene Mission Hospital and asked the Ministry of health to send doctors.
He also appealed to the Ministry of General Education through the President to consider building a secondary school in his area which he said, despite benefiting from various development projects, had no secondary school.
He also asked the President if he, together with other Chiefs from North-Western Province, could visit him at State House to discuss development issues in their chiefdoms.
In response, President Lungu who thanked the Chiefs for the warm reception, said they were free to visit him at State House, adding that the Provincial Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu would facilitate their visit.
