‘LET CHIEFS LEAD DIALOGUE’

… We have proven record of arbitration since time in memorial- chief Chipepo

- By NATION REPORTER

GIVE traditional leaders a chance to spearhead the national dialogue if the process is to succeed because they have a proven record of mediation, Chief Chipepo of the Tonga people of Southern Province has said.

Chief Chipepo had also earlier expressed concern that traditional leaders had been sidelined from the proposed national dialogue from the onset.

Chief Chipepo however reiterated that political players did not need the Commonwealth or any other organisation to spearhead national dialogue.

He assured that chiefs had the capacity to handle the national dialogue among political players because they had proven experience in conflict management.

Chief Chipepo told Daily Nation that traditional leaders had the necessary wisdom to handle whatever challenges were currently affecting the political space in Zambia.

The traditional leader said there were no major issues among the political players in Zambia that they could not solve.

He pointed out that it was just a matter of sitting politicians down and ask them what their grievances were, adding that the fighting was probably the result of greed and jealousy.

Chief Chipepo charged that politicians just wanted to manipulate people’s minds to think that there was a serious problem when in fact not.
