DP woes more opposition leaders

By NATION REPORTER FORUM for Democracy and Developmen­t (FDD) National Women's Chairperso­n Alice Kapasa has defected to join the newly-formed opposition Democratic Party (DP).

Ms Kapasa announced her resignatio­n from FDD in Ndola yesterday.

On Tuesday, United Progressiv­e Party acting secretary general Philip Matavu and Peoples Alliance for Change secretary general Mbaita Musendeka also defected to the DP.

The Former Women's Chairperso­n for FDD stated that she had decided to join DP because she was confident that it was the only party that would provide an effective checks and balances without using vulgar language.

Ms Kapasa said the DP had the ability to facilitate a platform where citizens would have an eTual share of the national cake. “The DP has demonstrat­ed that it means well for Zambia by considerin­g Hon Harry Kalaba as the Presidenti­al Candidate for the 2021 general elections,” she said.

Ms Kapasa emphasized that she was very proud of the decision she had made and confident that it was a decision she will never live to regret. 6he reaffirmed her confidence in Mr Kalaba stating that Zambia needed credible leadership that would be able to put the interest of the country first rather than the current status where most leaders were preoccupie­d with amassing wealth for themselves and their families. Ms Kapasa said she was confident that Mr Kalaba who is Bahati Member of Parliament, was the right man to take over the office of 3resident.
