Freedom fighters decry insults

- By NATION REPORTER NDOLA

Freedom Fighters Association District Chairman Isaac Kanyanta has appealed to politicians to conduct civilised politics in order to maintain peace in the country.

Mr Kanyanta said he was displeased with the current political scenario in the country where Zambians leaders were at each other’s necks instead of engaging in constructive debates.

Mr Kanyama was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation in Ndola yesterday.

Zambia, he noted, needed politicians that spoke towards transforming various sectors of the economy instead of being bent on scandalising individuals.

“We should talk about what we will do when we get into power, such as how we will do away with pit latrines, install Tuality water pipes and construct townships and so on.

“Edgar Chagwa Lungu is a common man but the Republican presidency is an institution. Hence, it is very unfair to attack the Republican President as he represents so many organisations,” he said.

Mr Kanyanta said conducive politics were vital for the country’s development, hence, politicians should do away with sarcastic language.

“When I attended the 1998 dialogue meeting chaired by late Second Republican President Dr Fredrick Chiluba, he proposed that it was an obligation for the government to fund political parties only if there were three political parties to unite the Zambian people and not more than that,” he said.

He said politicians should come up with systems to formulate something that would make Zambia a better place to live in.

And association secretary Geoffrey Malwita said unsubstantiated allegation of corruption must come to an end.

Mr Malwita said insults and accusations among politicians solved nothing but only promoted
