‘Set up Fisheries College’

-

By NATION REPORTER CONSIDER setting up a fisheries college in Siavonga district to train young people in aquaculture so that they are empowered, says Southern Province acting PF chairman Elijah Chitalu

In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr Chitalu appealed to President Edgar Lungu to consider setting up a college on the shores of Lake Kariba in Siavonga to train young people in aquaculture and other related fisheries studies.

He said the college would not only help young people to acquire skills in aquaculture farming but also develop the sector and help create the much needed employment for young people.

In another development, former Siavonga district commissioner, Brave Mweetwa has advised opposition UPND president, Hakainde Hichilema and his NDC counterpart, Chishimba Kambwili to put aside their individual interests by offering solutions to government as opposed to always opposing every effort by President Lungu to develop the country.

“We thank His Excellency the Republican President Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu for his unmatched passion to develop Southern Province.

His visit has put Siavonga district and southern province as a whole on the economic map of the country on aquaculture development as enshrined in the PF 2016/2021 Manifesto,” said Mr Mweetwa.

Mr Mweetwa added: “I wish to advise the UPND leader and the NDC consultant and all the sponsored critics of the PF government to start reasoning beyond their selfish personal interest but start offering positive checks and balances and come out of denial as they look forward to another defeat in 2021”.

He said young people in the ruling party have already started mobilizing and networking across the province to explain to the people the developmental programs President Lungu’s Government was undertaking in the country and southern province in particular.
