‘People come to watch football not referees’
“You all know he has been Kennedy Mweene’s undNerksatunday and for sure even the way he took the penalty, I thought it was Kennedy Mweene, but then I realised it was Toaster Nsabata,” Chambeshi said.
Nsabata also saved Zambia’s blushes in the 84th minute to deny Itamunua Kaimunine from scoring. “It is good the young boy is coming up, he is working hard.
“We are looking at the future and we encourage the boy to maintain the same level of play so that he can continue playing at this higher level,” Chambeshi said.
Nsabata, who was also Zambia’s number one at the 2018 CHAN in January and in March’s hosting of four-nation friendly tournament in Ndola, has been in superb form as he high devoured to replace Chipolopolo’s number one shot stopper Kennedy Mweene.
Meanwhile Chipolopolo striker Kelvin Kampamba says there is need for the chipolopolo boys to improve on scoring goals to achieve their target of
year’s Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) senior championship being played in South Africa.
Speaking after he was handed the man of the match award for impressing in Zambia’s 4-3 victory over Namibia in the first quarter final fixture, Mubanga expressed delight but noted the need for the team to score goals.
The Power Dynamos winger who could have scored the opener for Zambia but saw his brilliantly struck volley going high a few minutes before the break said that Zambia played well but were unfortunate as they failed to score goals.
“This is what we planned for, beating Namibia to reach the semifinals but we need to sharpen up our striking force because we want to score two goals or more to reach the finals. Our objective is to work on the striking force and team organization in front of goal,” Mubanga said
Mweemba who is a director together with Martha Mushipe at the Mazabuka based outfit has charged that Zone Four referees are incompetent and only meant to destroy the game of soccer through bad officiating.
This follows the Noel Phiri tutored team’s goalless draw which they recorded in a week 10 schedule against the host Maramba Stars played at St Raphael’s ground in Livingstone on Saturday in which MUZA FC was denied a penalty.
In an interview with journalists shortly after the game, Mweemba said Livingstone as a tourist capital has never had a team playing in the premiere league because of the biasness of local referees.
“You’re destroying football in Zambia, what is wrong with you. We spend money to bring teams here but you’re dividing the game, every time stories, referees in Livingstone are biased, they are not helping the teams here (Livingstone),” he said.
“FAZ is making everything possible to ensure these referees are paid but why spend money on such people. I don’t want to use an aggressive word but this is incompetence. People come to watch football not referees,” he said.
Mr. Mweemba said that it was sad that one of his players was red carded in the second half, a further infliction of pain to his team in addition to the denied penalty.
