EXPEL UNRULY UNZA STUDENTS

-

GOVERNMENT must expel University of Zambia (UNZA) students who want to make Zambia ungovernable through their riotous behaviour, Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) has demanded. On Saturday night, some students from UNZA ran amok and destroyed private property after the institution experienced a slight power blackout. But ZRP president Wright Musoma said it was high time sanity was restored at UNZA. In an interview yesterday, Mr Musoma explained that there were a few students with criminal minds who wanted to use the name of the University to advance their agenda. “Sometime we wonder if those students are there to learn or they are just there to cause problems… Our position as ZRP is that those students have got no right whatsoever to do what they did. Let’s not fool ourselves that all the students at UNZA are straight or normal. Pa nsaka tapabula cipuba. The institution is carrying some rotten eggs,” said Mr Musoma. He wondered why the students rioted over power failure that had nothing to do with people whose cars were smashed. “How can a normal person riot over power failure? Let them be arrested and sent to prison, maybe there they will have 24 hour non interrupted power supply. That’s the place they belong. And this is not the first time and definitely not the last time they are rioting over baseless issues. Are they saying they will be rioting each time there is power interruption. The answer is a big no! “Those are sponsored thugs who must be caged. The problem is government always tolerates them, they are arrested for two minutes and released. We need stiff punishment for these thugs to deter them from such barbaric activities.” He said government shouldn’t wait until a life was lost to act accordingly. “We need to curtail this kind of behaviour now and the only way to do that is to allow the law to take its course. Because the law is very clear, criminality has no place in this country. That’s why we are asking that let these thugs go to jail now,” said Mr Musoma.
