Ex-minister applauds FJT University works

-

CONSTRUCTION of institutions of higher learning in rural areas such as the FJT University is a demonstration of the Patriotic Front and government’s commitment to deliver affordable quality education for all, says former Luapula Province minister Besa Chimbaka. And Mr Chimbaka hailed President Edgar Lungu for naming FJT University after Zambia’s second Republican President, saying the move will go a long way in honouring Dr Chiluba’s legacy. In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, Mr Chimbaka, a teacher by training, said access to quality tertiary education was key to the development of the country. He said construction of learning institutions across the country was also critical to address illiteracy levels especially in rural parts of the country including Luapula Province where the FJT University was currently under construction. “It is exciting for the people of Luapula province, and it shows how committed the Patriotic Front is to improve education standards in rural areas. We the people of Luapula Province are very happy that the construction works are progressing very well,” said Mr Chimbaka. “Naming the university after our late president will go a long way in history, remembering the second Republican President’s contributions towards economic transformation of our country,” said Mr Chimbaka. The former Bahati lawmaker further said government was doing well in addressing poverty. He however urged government to do more to address high levels of poverty affecting the nation. “The Patriotic Front is becoming more aggressive in implementing programmes and projects. If they continue at this pace we will see some other political parties collapsing. PF must remain steadfast. “The Patriotic Front has a vision for the country and they have the drive and if they continue on this path we will see massive development in Zambia,” said Mr Chimbaka.
