‘I WILL WALK NAKED’

-

However, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has written to the public protector to immediately punish FIC Managing Director and the Board for breach of the Financial Intelligence Act of 2010 as amended in 2016, by publishing details of the report to members of the public

The embattled Roan constituency lawmaker charged that the ruling party should stay away from FIC, assuring that the opposition would stand with the Centre and its director general.

Mr Kambwili said in Lusaka yesterday at the NDC secretariat during a press briefing, where he claimed that FIC had availed important information that security wings had failed to act on, while the Church and civil society organisations had also remained silent.

Mr Kambwili said PF media director, Sunday Chanda and his deputy Antonio Mwanza should stop calling for the resignation or dismissal of Ms Tshuma.

“If it means walking Cairo Road the way I was born, without clothes I will do just that to protest the dismissal of Financial Intelligence Centre Director General Mary Tshuma. I want to warn PF, stay away from FIC, “he said.

He said the NDC was an extension of the PF but that the only difference was that it was not corrupt.

Mr Kambwili vowed that he would not relent talking about issues affecting Zambia and accused the government of having killed him economically.

Mr alleged that his phones were tapped and that one of his uncles had a contract terminated for communicating with him frequently. He said the NDC would field a strong candidate for the Lusaka mayoral elections who would give the PF a run for their money.

Mr Kambwili however praised President Lungu for giving the black mountain back to the youths.

Earlier, Mr Kambwili reprimanded one of his security personnel who was seen pushing a journalist and told him to stop and learn to respect the media.

And Mr Ntewewe also contends that the information routinely gathered by the FIC was wide and doesn’t constitute acts of crimes for now, until verification and further investigations was done on the reported suspicious transactions by law enforcement agencies.

He contends also that at this stage, the information gathered by the FIC was raw and required further investigations.
