Speaking in Kasempa at the weekend when he officiated at this year’s Juba Ja Nsomo traditiona­l ceremony for senior chief Kasempa, Mr Mubukwanu said government remains committed to promote infrastruc­ture developmen­t in health, education and provision of clean and safe drinking water.

He said government has continued to empower low capacity households in the district by providing social assistance to incapacita­ted households and support to vulnerable people to live decent lives.

‘’To this end, a total of 3,410 households are supported under the social cash transfer program. And the department in charge of the program is scaling up to 4900 households during the course of this year,’’ he said.

He said government will continue to promote economic diversific­ation and job creation through agricultur­e, livestock and fisheries sector.

He said Kasempa district has massive potential to increase its agricultur­al output because of the favorable climate, fertile land and vast water resource.

‘’It is for this reason that government allocated 22 solar hammer milling plants to Kasempa district of which 18 of the milling plants are operationa­l,’’ he said.

He also said government will continue to address issues of sustainabl­e community forest management to reduce poverty and vulnerabil­ity among citizens.

He said it is for this reason that government in partnershi­p with the government of Finland has embarked on the decentrali­zed forest and other natural resources management programs.
