District Chamber upbeat about Central expo
By NATION REPORTER THE Kabwe District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KDCCI) is looking at the Central Province Expo as an opportunity for the private sector to exploit the economic potential of various sectors like agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and mining.
Central Province is expected to hold an investment expo from August 20 to 25, this year.
The main objective of the investment expo is to link the province to the global World in order to promote growth and investment through sustainable development.
KDCCI President Christabel Ngongola-Reinke said the chamber has expectations for the Central Province Expo and would ensure that it took a leading role in exploiting the economic potential of various sectors in the province.
Ms Ngongola-Reinke said this in Kitwe in an interview at the just ended Copperbelt, Agricultural, Mining, Industrial and Networking Enterprise Exhibition (CAMINEX).
“Government is facilitating the Expo, but as a private sector, we will ensure that we play a leading role because it will be an opportunity for us, to exploit the economic potential of sectors like agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and mining.
“We would like to fully exploit these sectors so that they contribute to the development of the Central Province. We have huge and immense expectations from the Expo. We are looking at the Expo as an opportunity to exploit the economic potential of the province,” Ms Ngongola-Reinke said. And Central Province Investment Forum Coordinator Sandra Muleya said the Central Province Expo was aimed at opening up economic opportunities for both local and foreign investors.
Ms Muleya said the Expo would be looking at agriculture, mining, tourism and manufacturing as the four key areas of investment.
“We want investors who will bring revenue and job creation in the province. We are hopeful that the results of the Expo will benefit the local people. We will also emphasize on the importance of value-addition,” Ms Muleya said.
The theme of the expo is; “promoting multi-sectorial integration for sustainable development.” It will expose the areas earmarked for Public Private Partnerships in order to derive full value to the province while providing an essential platform for local and international communities to accelerate sustainable development.
