MORE PROJECTS COMING - COUNCILLOR
By NATION REPORTER
A NUMBER of developmental projects have been lined up to give a facelift to Itimpi ward in Kitwe and also to empower women and youths in the area, Ward Councillor Mwaya Mpasa has said.
Ms Mpasa said she would strive to ensure that the ward receives a share of various developmental projects which the government was delivering to all parts of the country.
She cited the commencement of township roads rehabilitation in the area as a sign that more projects were on cards.
Ms Mpasa who addressed a series of meetings in the ward told residents that the construction of a police station and police officers houses would start soon.
The rehabilitation of township roads started in Itimpi and very soon the construction of a police station and police officers’ houses will start. This is not the beginning and the end. No, I will continue to fight for projects, Ms Mpasa said.
The Itimpi ward councillor also said she would now initiate projects that would empower women and youths in the area.
She said she would ensure that the number of old people benefiting from the Social Cash Transfer continue to increase.
Apart from infrastructure development, I would like to see that there are also projects that aim at empowering youths, women and old people, she said
Last month, the rehabilitation of roads under the Zambia Township Roads kicked off in Itimpi, with Mayor Christopher Kangombe urging the contractor Avic International to ensure that Kitwe-based contractors were subcontracted to do some jobs.
The rehabilitation works were expected to cover . kilometres of roads, starting from the Kitwe-Chingola dual carriageway junction up to the market in Zambia compound.
