STOP ISSUING PROVOCATIVE STATEMENTS, HH TOLD

- By NATION REPORTER

POLITICAL party leaders must desist from issuing inflammatory statements that may scuttle or derail the National Dialogue Process, Zambian DNA spokesperson Spuki Mulemwa has charged.

In a statement availed to the Daily Nation Zambian Mr Mulemwa said Zambian DNA was saddened by the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s attempts to incite the Zambian people to rise against their democratically elected Government. He said It was unfortunate that the UPND leader was making such statements when the

Dialogue Process was about to begin.

“Mr Hichilema’s statement attributed to him by a known tabloid allegedly called on all Zambians to unite and remove the PF government from power before 2021.

“It’s unfortunate that the opposition leader has continued to ignore that Zambia is a constitutional democracy, and not a ‘Kangaroo ‘State, where one decides when to remove one leader and install another,” he said. Mr Mulemwa advised Mr Hichilema and other opposition leaders to focus on mobilizing their political parties so that they could challenge the incumbent, President Edgar Lungu in 2021, and not short-circuit the process.

“We urge the Zambian people to ignore politicians who are agitating for a regime change before the PF’s five-year mandate they gave it to govern the country expires in 2021,” he said.

Mr Mulemwa said the PF government was delivering on their campaign promises, and had made great strides in improving the welfare of the Zambian people.

He appealed to President Lungu and other government officials to ignore the usual ranting of some opposition leaders and focus on rolling out the allinclusive development agenda in all parts of the country.
