Youths’ behaviour worry clergyman
A COPPERBELT based clergyman of Bible Dominion Church (BDC) Pastor Davies Kasengele says he is worried with the seemingly increasing number of youths engaged in social ills.
Pastor Kasengele said it was unfortunate the that some youths have resorted to alcohol and drugs, a situation that rendered them unproductive.
He said the youths are the present and future leaders hence they should take their lives seriously by engaging in productive activities that will enhance their living standards.
Pastor Kasengele said it has now become a way of life for some youths on the Copperbelt to continue abusing alcohol with impunity without thinking about their future. He said alcohol consumption and drug abuse was alarming because the young people were the majority who were affected and some were even failing to plan for their future because they were almost always intoxicated and could not think positively. The Clergyman said the coming back of the cane spirits commonly known as junta has contributed to the high levels of youths abusing alcohol because the substance was readily and cheaply available in various Townships and compounds of the Copperbelt.
The clergyman has appealed to the parents, the Church and the Non Governmental organizations to ensure that they conduct educative and sensitization programmes on the dangers of alcohol and its negative impact.
