CHOMA ROADS TO GET FACELIFT

- By NATION REPORTER

WE are doing everything possible to rehabilitate dilapidated roads, says Choma District Commissioner Shina Muleya.

Ms Muleya named ChomaMasuku, Sibanyati and Mochipapa roads as among those that needed urgent rehabilitation.

Ms Muleya was commenting specifically on the condition of the Choma- Masuku road which also passes through Kabebya Farm which used to belong to late veteran politician Daniel Munkombwe.

Ms Muleya told the Daily Nation that Government had already identified the road as being among those that needs attention. She told the Daily Nation that government through the Road Development Agency (RDA) had already identified the roads which needs to be worked on. “The Choma-Masuku road is one of the roads that will be worked on by the Road Development Agency (RDA) under the feeder roads projects…we are aware that the road is in bad state,” he said. “It was resolved during the provincial development coordinating committee (PDCC)meeting that Choma Masuku-Sibanyati and Mochipapa roads must be rehabilitated. We are only waiting for the RDA to move in and start the works,” she said.

Meanwhile, there was order in Choma on Wednesday during the burial of late Daniel Munkombwe despite the district being the opposition United Party for National Development’s(UPND) stronghold.

Government through the defence and security wings had made it clear that no persons attending the burial of Mr Munkombwe should wear their party regalia. Order came into play after the Zambia Police under the command of Southern Province Commissioner of Police Bonny Kapeso took over the show and made sure every person attending the burial was screened without exceptions.
