Matero councillor backs Sampa mayoral adoption

- By NATION REPORTER

THE adoption of Miles Sampa as candidate for the vacant post of Lusaka Mayor is timely and a welcome development, Matero Ward 28 Councillor, Annie Chinyanta has observed. In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, Ms Chinyanta said the people in her ward have rallied behind Mr Sampa’s candidature especially that he was a former Member of Parliament in Matero constituency. Ms Chinyanta said the residents cannot forget the various developmental projects that were embarked upon by Mr Sampa. She named some of the projects as the road network, safe drinking water and improvement of health facilities. “On behalf of the people of Matero constituency, I would like to commend the PF party for adopting Mr Sampa who worked tirelessly in the constituency especially on development projects. Matero has had erratic water supply, poor roads and unsafe drinking water. So we are happy that finally the dust has settled on the candidate for Lusaka Mayor,” said Ms Chinyanta. Last week, the ruling PF adopted Mr Sampa as its candidate for the vacant post of Lusaka Mayor. PF secretary general davies Mwila said the PF central committee adopted Mr Sampa following extensive deliberations. Mr Mwila said the central committee also considered that Mr. Sampa had shown repentance for his past deeds and that the party had forgiven him in the spirit of uniting the party and embracing new members. He has since called on all members to embrace Mr. Sampa.
