We’re not a headless party - Musenge
WE are not a headless party as we have a party president, Chishimba Kambwili who will be announced once the court case regarding his expulsion from PF is over, says NDC secretary-general, Mwenya Musenge
Mr Musenge said this when he unveiled the party’s chairperson for Women Affairs, Saboi Imboela as candidate in the July 26 Lusaka mayoral by-elections in /usaka yesterday.
Mr Musenge boasted that NDC would scoop the Lusaka mayoral seat because its candidate was very educated.
He said that the selection process for the Lusaka mayoral seat for NDC was extremely challenging as three out of the eight who had applied for adoption were all suitable candidates.
And Ms Imboela, a former member of a music duo group “Shatel” claimed that she was the signal Lusaka city had been waiting for to see real transformation.
Mr Musenge announced that due to some challenges that befell the party in the past few days, it would not be able to field candidates in some areas.
Mr Musenge said the party was also in the process of identifying a suitable candidate for the Chilanga council chairperson by-election and would give a position by the end of today.
“In North Western Province, out of the five elections there we might field at least three, ,n &hilanga we are still trying to see what we can do but we will know by the end of tomorrow (today).
Meanwhile, Mr Musenge announced that NDC had also selected Mervis Mwitwa for Chachacha local government by-elections in Mwense, a lady Given Chola for Chifunabula, Mr Gabriel Mbewe for Kasenengwa and Lugomo Phiri for &hipangali.
The NDC chief also claimed that some PF Members of Parliament had been secretly supporting the opposition party and thanked them for the gesture.
Mr Musenge however said that unlike PF and United Party for National development who had adopted northerners and all male, the NDC had strategically settled for a woman, hailing from :estern 3rovince.
