‘TREAT LUANO AS STAND-ALONE IN AGRO ACTIVITIES’

- By NATION REPORTER

LUANO District Commissioner (DC) Christopher Chibuye has appealed to Food Reserve Agency (FRA) to consider Luano as a separate entity from Mkushi regarding crop marketing.

Mr Chibuye said this during official launch of )5A crop marketing season training for Luano and Mkush districts.

The DC said it was high time )5A considered /uano as stand-alone district and not under Mkushi.

Mr Chibuye said Luano should have crop marketing training in Luano not in Mkushi.

", am appealing to )5A to treat Luano as a stand-alone district. Luano is now a district by itself. Activities like this one are supposed to be held in Luano and not here in Mkushi." Mr Chibuye said.

Mr Chibuye further implored )5A to improve communication with stakeholders.

He said his office had contacted )5A over the same matter but no response had been received.

In response, Central province marketing coordinator Martin Mangenda said the matter would be considered in due course.

Mr Mangenda noted that the situation was the same with new districts in the province such as Chitambo and Ngabwe.

And Mkushi District Commissioner Luka Mwamba said he would only allow local people to be employed as satellite depot clerks.

"I will only allow local people to be employed as satellite depot clerks not from outside Mkushi," Mr Mwamba said.
