Flush out criminals, Kanganja orders Lusaka Police chief

By NATION REPORTER POLICE have been ordered to intensify nigh t patrols in Lusaka’s Kalingal inga, Helen Kaunda and Mtendere compounds to stop the criminal activi ties of a notorious gan g group called the ³)luffies´.

Inspector General Kakoma Kanganja yesterday ordered Lusaka Province Police Commission­er Nelson Phiri to intensify night patrols in the three compounds to stop criminal activities of a notorious gang called the ³)luffies”.

Mr Kanganja said the Police Command will not allow criminals to continue terrorisin­g innocent people, and would remain proactiYe in the fight against crime by responding and silencing criminal elements before they escalated.

Mr Kanganja said it was important to reciprocat­e the good will Government has demonstrat­ed to the Zambia Police Service by ensuring that it doubled efforts in the fight against crime.

He wondered why criminal gangs such as the Toyota boys, Mbwambwamb­wa and the Fluffies in /usaka had thriYed.

Meanwhile, Mr Kanganja handed over a Higer bus to the Paramilita­ry Battalion at Lilayi which President Edgar Lungu donated to ease the transport challenges the unit was facing.

Mr Kanganja thanked the government and President Lungu for having shown commitment in improving the welfare of officers.

And Paramilita­ry Battalion commanding officer &hiliMe 1yirenda said the bus would help in the moYement of officers and transporta­tion of logistics to various operationa­l areas.

Mr Nyirenda said inadequate transport to the unit affects its operations.
