Africa out of the world Cup

-

Dear Editor, I AM not sure what to think of the World Cup anymore. Is it better not to qualify or qualify and get humiliated during the tournament beamed throughout the world.

The African representatives to the World Cup being held in Russia have all been booted out of the tournament.

Perhaps only Senegal can claim some semblance of honour as their elimination was more technical and not really decided on the pitch. The other teams were sent packing in very embarrassing fashion.

Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia and Morocco all faced an early elimination. This means that the second stage of the tournament would have no African team.

We shall fall back on supporting European teams where our favourite players play. Why is it that African has failed to get its hands on this trophy?

What are we lacking in terms of technique or is it preparation?

Do we need to spend more money to enhance our football training. Is it that talent is waning. Surely this can not be true.

There are signs that Africa has talented players and this is evidenced by the many players plying their trade in premier leagues in Europe. Perhaps local coaches need to select capable and balanced players for the World Cup. Africa must redeem its reputation.

We can do better that this.
