Councillor pours praise on Sampa
By NATION REPORTER PATRIOTIC Front (PF) mayoral aspirant Miles Sampa’s vast experience in the corporate world will help him increase the Lusaka City Council (LCC) revenue collection, says Kabwata’s Kamulanga Ward 9 councillor, Jonas Phiri.
Mr Phiri said the people of Kamulanga Ward are excited with the adoption of Mr Sampa as Lusaka Mayor.
Mr Phiri expressed confidence that Mr Sampa was heading for clear victory because of his pragmatic leadership qualities.
He said Mr Sampa who is former Matero Member of Parliament had unquestionable leadership prowess which surpassed all of his contenders.
In an interview with the Daily Nation, the civic leader expressed hope that Mr Sampa would revolutionise the operations of the local authority.
“As residents of Kamulanga Ward we are excited with the adoption of Miles Sampa as our mayoral candidate for Lusaka, this is a person who has vast experience in the corporate world and we believe he will use that to increase revenue collection at the Civic Centre,” he said.
Mr Phiri said Mr Sampa who served in the banking sector at management level and later served as Deputy Minister of Commerce had a unique understanding on how to promote Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) which the City of Lusaka desperately needed.
He said during his tenure as Matero lawmaker, Mr Sampa changed the face of the constituency and also improved roads in the area.
The Lusaka mayoral seat fell vacant following the demise of Wilson Kalumba and the election has been scheduled for July 26, 2018.
