Trust Lungu, Chilufya tells Mansa residents

- By NATION REPORTER

TRUST President Lungu because he is the only leader who is interested in the welfare of all Zambians, says Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya.

Speaking in Mansa Central constituency yesterday, Dr. Chilufya said Mr. Lungu was working on ensuring that the PF government fulfilled all its campaign promises. He said the government's main focus was on improving health, education and agriculture sectors; and infrastructure.

Dr. Chilufya's two-day working visit started with a stop at Mantumbusa market, along the Mansa-Samfya road, where he promised to build a modern structure for the traders.

The minister later proceeded to Monga village where he received a thunderous welcome at Monga Basic School and he later inspected the newly built Monga health centre.

Dr. Chilufya said the facility had been built at a cost of K400,000 and that it has come as a relief to Monga residents who used to walk 10 kilometres to access healthcare at Mabumba.

He directed the Luapula provincial health authorities to ensure health workers were deployed for the health center to start operating next week.

Dr. Chilufya also said no child should be sent away from school for failing to pay school fees. He said school authorities must instead engage parents and guardians because some of them were not in gainful employment but other income generating activities.

"In fact those chasing children from school benefitted from free education but as government we want all children to have access to universal education," Dr. Chilufya said.

He said there was need to upgrade Monga Basic School, which was built in 1932, because pupils passing grade nine exams were facing difficulties in walking 10 kilometres to Mabumba Secondary School.

He later went to Kapisha health post, about eight kilometres south of the Mansa-Samfya road, where he found that there was no nurse, and directed the provincial health authorities to deploy a nurse to the health post in the next three days.

Dr Chilufya's tour of duty yesterday ended with a stop at Japheth village where he empowered women and youths with undisclosed amounts of money for income generating ventures.
