KUDOS TO INSPECTOR GENERAL

-

Dear Editor,

THE news that police picked up five members of the notorious youth gang popularly known as Fluffy Boys in Lusaka’s Mtendere compound is a welcome development.

This is a plus on the part of Inspector-General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja and his fellow officers.

Sometimes police should not be blamed for not arresting such culprits because policing starts with the public who know the whereabouts of people in various compounds in which they live.

That is why there was a time police had introduced a programme ‘Police and You’ on national television which sensitized members of the community on the need to work with police by releasing vital information regarding criminal activities. These youth gangs are a danger to society and are only becoming an eyesore and making life difficult for their respective families.

We heard and it was reported in the media recently that these same boys terrorised residents of Kalingalinga Jesus Army area.

The residents were reported to be living in fear following the number of attacks that have been recorded in that area.

Some of the residents were reported to have said that the suspected fluffy boys that were attacking Mtendere residents have now raided some parts of Kalingalinga and are terrorising unsuspecting members of the community.

So keep it up Zambia Police Service and the IG for a job well done to get rid of gangs in the city.

I hope you will also completely wipe out those other gangs on the Copperbelt.

Regards

Edward Zulu
