Bangladesh President craves to visit Zambia
I AM looking forward to visiting Zambia in future once formally invited by my counterpart, President Edgar Lungu, says President of Bangladesh Abdul Hamid
He made the remarks when Zambia's High Commissioner Extra- Ordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bangladesh Judith Kapijimpanga presented for credentials.
“Bangladesh is also working hard to respond to challenges in the Asian sub-continent such as the refugee crisis in Rohingya, Myanmar, with the help of the international community and the World Bank in particular," he said.
And Ms Kapijimpanga said Zambia wanted to revive relations with Bangladesh to champion economic diplomacy.
"Zambia is particularly interested in the textile industry which is flourishing in Bangladesh," Mrs. Kapijimpanga said.
She also said Zambia wanted a Joint Permanent Commission with Bangladesh to critically examine areas of mutual cooperation.
The ceremony took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where the High Commissioner received military honours.
And Ms. Kapijimpanga addressed a Zambia- Bangladesh Business Forum in Dhaka attended by the business and media houses.
"I wish to praise the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA) and Trade Service International for working with Zambia High Commission to reach out to the business community here," she said.
Ms. Kapijimpanga said Zambia was ripe for investment because of political stability as well as its currency adding that inflation was always under control.
She said investing in Zambia was meaningful because it was centrally located with access to 8 neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, AIDIA founder Sunil Katri said his organisation would work hard to ensure that investors from Asia looked to Zambia for business and investment opportunities.
