‘Rotary club formation biggest milestone’

Speaking at the charter night held in Lusaka, Mr Devalia said the formation of the Rotary Club of Metro with 91 members, will go a long way in meeting the set targets of the Rotary Club movement in Zambia and abroad.

Mr Devalia commended District Governor Larry Mapani for his tireless efforts in ensuring that the new club was formed.

“This is a big achievemen­t for Rotarians and we should give ourselves a pat on the back,

“I ‘am inviting more people to join this wonderful organisati­on which propagates the philosophy of service above self in ensuring that the needy in society and taken care of,” emphasised Mr Devalia.

He added that three more clubs are expected to be chartered in the near future in and around Lusaka so that more venerable people in society can be reached and assistance through humanitari­an programmes undertaken by Rotary Internatio­nal.

He also encouraged more people to join the Rotary Club movement and cited former President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and President Edgar Lungu as some of the notable Rotarians that have served the needy in society before.

And speaking at the same event, Charter president Rachael Ward said she was optimistic the new club would record success and grow even bigger.

³I’am very confident that Rotary Club of Metro, being the biggest in Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and northern Mozambique will score successes in areas of literacy, health, water, sanitation and conflict resolution,” said Ms. Ward.
