CATHOLIC CHURCH PLEDGES STATE TIES

THE Catholic Church has pledged to continue supporting and working with Government to foster developmen­t in the country.

In his sermon during the commission­ing rite for the Women League in Solweza at Saint Kizito, parish priest Father Steven Kapalu said the church will continue supporting Government.

He said the Catholic Church is founded on principles and is known to work and support Government. " As such, we will continue working with Government and we want other institutio­ns to emulate the Catholic Church by appreciati­ng what Government is doing in terms of developmen­t,” he said. " It is my appeal to other institutio­ns including individual­s to support what government is doing.

Let us give praise were it is due, You lose nothing," he said.

He also called on people to respect these in leadership, saying every leadership comes as from God hence the need to have respect for them.

“And the bible is very clear, we just have to follow the instructio­ns from the bible by respecting our leaders,’’ he added. And gracing the event, North W estern Province PF chairperso­n, Jackson Kungo, said the PF Government aims at promoting women participat­ion in governance by creating various leadership positions in all sectors.

" This is in line with the church, in particular the Catholic Women's League which views women not just being mothers but capable and reliable leaders," he said.

He said Government appreciate­s the work that the church was doing in furthering developmen­t in the country.

He urged the newly commission­ed women to respect the Catholic Women's League constituti­on which calls for loyalty, hard work and charitable in the community.

He also made a donation of about K18,000 to the church.
