State for innovative enterprises
By BUSINESS REPORTER GOVERNMENT will continue to support progressive and innovative enterprises that help stimulate growth of the economy, says Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba.
Mr Mushimba said government had prioritised the development of information communication technology (ICT) across the country because of its potential to propel rapid transformation of the economy.
The minister was speaking during the launch of Web-Ticket Zambia at Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka.
Mr Mushimba observed that the global economy was becoming more and more sophisticated, hence the imperative need to come up with innovative ways that included the aid of ICTs.
“Government is continuously creating an enabling environment by fostering the development of innovative sectors, sector policies and legislations, strengthening public institutions and ICT facilities,” Mr Mushimba said. He said that the coming in of web-ticket on the Zambian market was a welcome move as going to provide Zambians with more options by levelling the playing field.
He said d that in the same line his ministry has developed the electronic transactions and electronic commerce bill which in due course will be enacted into law.
He has assured that fears harboured by many of losing money will not occur as there were necessary expertise to ensure safety and refunds of such online transaction.
“Let me assure you that the The Platinum Club certificate fears harboured by many of losing their money will not occur as expertise safety measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of your money and possible refunds of such online transactions,” he said.
His ministry, he said, has advanced in formulating the national cyber security policy to ensure the safety of Zambia’s cyber space.
