HH facing political extinction, says Sunday Chanda

- By NATION REPORTER

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) under Hakainde Hichilema is going into extinction as the party has failed to adapt to the changing political landscape, says Patriotic Front (PF) Media Director, Sunday Chanda.

Mr Chanda said the UPND since 2006 has been limited to Hichilema’s ego and the depth of his pocket and as such, the party has been unable to adapt.

He said the political landscape has shifted many times since Mr. Hichilema took over the reins of the UPND from the late Anderson Mazoka close to 12 years ago yet the party has stubbornly stayed put.

Mr Chanda said the UPND was led by capitalists and refused to submit to tenets of democracy such as holding regular and free intra-party elections as prescribed by the Constitution.

“Paeleontogists will not too long from now be mentioning the names UPNDsaurus and Hakaindesaurus in the same breath as Torosaurus, Valdosaurus and other extinct dinosaurs because of their inability to adapt and respond to change,” he said.

Mr Chanda said the UPND leader’s name has become synonymous with a deceitful and obstinate despot who conveniently evades dialogue and democracy in his own party while insisting to be recognized as a champion of dialogue and democracy to the outside world.

He further charged that he was not shocked that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema had issued a bitter statement through his stooge Mr. Nathan Ilunga, who is the party’s Chairman for Northern Province.

Mr Chanda said Mr. Hichilema and his stooges must realise that the more lies they told about President Edgar Lungu, the more truth the PF would tell them about him and his UPND.
