Speaking to the on Sunday, Ms Becky Mumba Mweetwa, a business woman and member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church said some unscrupulous people pretending to be crossing the road were pouncing on unsuspecting victims upon giving them the way.

“As I was driving home, I saw a mob of people in front of me and I thought they were trying to cross the road so I decided to give them way, the next thing I saw my car doors were open and they forced me out of the car,” she said.

She explained that when other motorists tried to come to her aid, all the things which were in the car

were already stolen.

“The motorists who saw what was happening tried to render some help but it was too late, they had already stolen my handbag and some groceries,” she narrated. Ms Mweetwa explained that after she was attacked on Cairo Road, she was again pounced on at Downtown by another group of thieves.

“As if it that wasn’t enough upon reaching Downtown another team was on me, as I was trying to struggle I ended up bashing into someone else’s vehicle which attracted more attention from the road users and that’s how I was saved. I am still traumatised”, she said.

She has since reported the matter to Kulima Tower police post and implored the Zambia Police command to ensure that security was beefed up along this stretch.

Zambia police spokesperson Easter Katongo said police had not received any report of such criminal activities taking place in the areas where Ms Mweetwa says she was attacked.

Ms Katongo advised the public to immediately report such criminal activities for police to act if at all the attacks were happening.
