KAZUNGULA District Town Council has relaunched its Keep Kazungula Clean and Healthy’ campaign which it almost abandoned earlier this year.

Both Kazungula District Commissioner Pascalina Musokotwane and Council secretary *iven 0uleya have confirmed the development to the Daily Nation in Livingstone.

Ms. Musokotwane said that the exercise was successfully relaunched last Friday after stakeholders agreed that the campaign should continue as directed by President Edgar Lungu. She said that the cleaning exercise which the Patriotic Front government was advocating for had been extended to all townships including the border post.

And Mr Muleya said in a statement issued by the council public relations officer Catherine 1gulube that the ³Keep Kazungula Clean, Green and Healthy” campaign would be an ongoing exercise.

Mr. Muleya said that the exercise which was receiving overwhelming support from all government departments and residents, was aimed at improving sanitation levels and healthy living standards in the district.

He said that the programme was a legal requirement as provided for in the Local Government Act Statutory Instrument number 100 of 2011.

“Notably, the local authority remains committed to improving Public Health in the District by mitigating factors that are hazardous to the public,” he said.
