Make up your mind, UPND told

-

THE opposition UPND leadership should state what matters they want discussed in the dialogue process and if at all they want the process to take place, President Edgar Lungu has said.

President Lungu has also urged the church to take the national inter-party dialogue seriously and expedite the mediaThe tion process. President also challenged the UPND to come out in the open and make known matters they wanted to be discussed during the dialogue process.

He said the process was long overdue and wondered why the UPND continued to change positions on who should preside over the dialogue process.

The President was speaking at a rally to drum up support for the Chilanga Council chairperson candidate Ann Brown in Namalombe ward yesterday.

He appealed to the people to vote for the ruling party candidate to help her work with the newly elected Member of Parliament, Maria Langa. “I want to appeal to the church to take the dialogue issue very seriously so that they can help us talk to each other as political players.

“The church must be in the forefront to help this dialogue process by bringing together the FDD, UPND, UNIP, MMD be- cause this issue of dillydallying and saying today its Commonwealth, tomorrow ZCID must come to an end. Let us avoid changing goal posts, we are Zambians. This appeal is made to UPND, ibwelenimo, just own up and say tamukwete ifyakulanda nagu tamulefwaya, PF is ready to go,” he said.

He said that the dialogue could only be successful with serious efforts from all those involved and concerned and must be allowed to flow without any deliberate hindrances for the benefit of the country.

And President Lungu has reiterated his calls against political violence and directed the police to arrest anyone involved.

Meanwhile, President Lungu has commended the commitment shown by some local contractors in the execution of government projects.

He said the decision by Tomorrow Investment to execute the road project in a short contract period of one year compared to the initial suggested three years was commendable, as they have committed to quality works.

The contractor was grading the ChamaSongwe road including creating culverts and drainages at a cost of K30.8 million.
