LIVINGSTONE LAUNCHES K218M STRATEGIC PLAN
THE Livingstone City &oXncil has laXncheG a fiYe year strategic plan worth K218 million outlining the programmes and proj ects the local authority will undertake. The plan was unveiled yesterday with Livingstone mayor Eugene Mapuwo calling on the residents to take time and study the document. Mr. Mapuwo said with the plan in place, the council would require to raise about K43 million per annum to finance it. “Therefore, it calls for concerted efforts from all stakeholders. ur desire as a local authority is to see this city expand and ease the life of the residents and visitors by way of improving the general outlook of the city,” he said. And guest of honour, the provincial minister Edify Hamukale who was represented by deputy permanent secretary Kennedy Mubanga commended the council for the plan. Dr. Hamukale said that when an organisation lacked a strategic plan, it created administrative challenges in the execution of its functions. +e said that made it difficult to achieve the desired results as there was no measuring tool that checked whether a target had been met or not. “In this vein, I want to call on the local authorities in the province to emulate the Livingstone City council. council chairmen and Councillors should know why they were voted into office,´ he said. And Dr Hamukale has urged council chairpersons and councillors to stop politicking and concentrate on why the electorates voted for them.
