ANTI-V OTER Apathy Proj ect (AV AP) Copperbelt Provincial Coordinator Poster Jumbe has caXtioneG .itZe ma\or Christopher Kang’ombe and his councillors to be careful in the manner they Zere hanGling issXes of lanG

Mr Jumbe said the previous crop of councillors at Kitwe City Council (KCC) was suspended because of rampant illegal allocation of land.

He said it was imperative that the current councillors handle land issues in a manner that would inspire confidence in the people.

He was commenting on reports of a looming rift between some councillors and the mayor over land management.

Last week, some councillors told the Daily Nation that their relationship with the mayor was deteriorating over land management in the 28 wards.

Mr Jumbe said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that the deteriorating relationship was not in the best interest of development.

“If councillors can complain over land management at the council, what about ordinary people? If we have a one individual or group of individuals to be the only ones having a privilege of owning land because of their positions, then we have problem,’’ Mr Jumbe said.

Mr Jumbe said councillors, including the mayor should concentrate on development, instead of bickering over land.

He said councillors were leaders at grass root level who should strive to serve the people.
