STALLED PROJECTS IRK DC

-

By NATION REPORTER

MANYINGA District Commissioner Queen Manela is disappointed with some contractors in the district for not resuming works despite being paid in full by government.

Ms Manela disclosed that that most projects in the district have stalled because the contractors have not been on site for some time now.

She said most contractors have not made significant progress on their projects; a situation she described as unfortunate.

She said the contractors needed to improve if government is to give them more contracts.

‘‘As a district administration we are very disappointed with some contractors who even after being fully paid they do not work on the projects they are undertaking. Some of them have not resumed works since the beginning of this year,’’ Ms Manela said.

Ms Manela has since directed all contractors to quickly move on site and resume works and fulfil their contractual obligations.

The projects being undertaken by government in Manyinga include construction of the district administration block, which will consist of 27 offices, 20 low cost housing units and 10 high cost houses for civil servants.

Others are the construction of the single storey civic centre building, a modern police station, a post office and two high cost houses whose works have stalled for a long time.
