Ndola Council wins kudos

- By NATION REPORTER

CLERK of the National Assembly, Cecilia Mbewe says she is impressed that Ndola City Council has worked out measures to plug illegal allocation of plots.

Ms Mbewe noted that the council was moving in a positive direction despite previously being shrouded in irregularities.

Ms Mbewe said this when she paid a courtesy call on Ndola mayor Amon Chisenga. She was with her Executive Assistant Barnabas Bwalya, Principal Clerk Parliamentary Reforms Programme Thokozani Kamanga and Victor Kabeleka Professional Assistant to Ndola Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Mulenga.

Ms Mbewe delivered the message as a special envoy from the Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Matibini.

She paid tribute to acting Town Clerk Wisdom Bwalya noting that he had been sent to Ndola because the system believed he was equal to the task.

Ms Mbewe encouraged Mr Bwalya to work tirelessly with his management team to restore confidence in the local authority.

“You were sent here for a reason and so far we are happy with the job you are doing here but remember do it for the welfare of the people,” she said.

And Ms Mbewe said the Speaker had taken keen interest in the operations and state of constituency offices.

In response, the mayor said Parliament had done well to put up constituency offices to enable residents reach out to their Members of Parliament easily.
