STUDENTS TRAIN IN DIALOGUE, CONFLICT RESOLUTION
ABOUT K100, 000 has been set aside by the Zambia National Students Union (ZANASU) to train students in dialogue and conflict resolution, says secretary general Isaac Mwanza.
Mr Mwanza said that ZANASU had partnered with a Danish organisation to train the students whose sessions would be held between 30 July and 3 August 2018.
He said in a statement on Thursday that the training of the students would be on-going during the tenure of office of the current ZANASU executive.
He said the training programmes would target all higher learning institutions in Zambia and that ZANASU would pay for meals and accommodation during the workshops.
“Each union will only be required to foot the transportation costs of the nominee from the institution to the venue and back,
“This training is part of our promise to train students in non-violent direct approach to resolving conflict that promotes peaceful resolution of disputes among students and discourages riotous behaviour that have rocked institutions of higher learning,” Mr Mwanza said.
He said that at the end of the training, all the participants would be awarded certificates in Theatre of the Oppressed,
Conflict Resolution and
Dialogue.
Mr Mwanza has since appealed to all student unions to take keen interest and nominate representatives to attend the training to be hosted in Lusaka. He has also encouraged student unions to consider including the physicallychallenged students among those to participate in the workshops.
